Senior Developer: AI-native Software Engineering (m/f/d)

We are EXP Software GmbH: a team of around 25 software developers with heart, humor and a passion for technology. We build explore, an Agentic Twin Platform that helps companies map and automate complex processes with autonomous AI agents.

AI is not an add-on for us. It is part of our product and part of how we work. We are looking for an experienced senior developer who thinks the same way: someone who does not just know AI tools but weaves them naturally into everyday development, and is faster, more precise and more creative because of it.

Your responsibilities

Product development & architecture

You design and build features for our projects, from concept through implementation to production.
You make well founded architecture decisions and actively contribute to the technical evolution of our products.
You take ownership of code quality: reviews, clean abstraction, testable structures.
You integrate LLM functionality, AI agents and automation logic directly into the products.
You use AI tools actively and extensively in your everyday development work: code generation, debugging, documentation and test coverage, and you find out for yourself where they add real value.

Team & knowledge sharing

You bring your experience actively into the team: code reviews, technical discussions, pair programming.
You support junior colleagues and contribute to a learning culture where ideas are welcome.
You document what matters, clearly, purposefully and without overhead.
You are interested in evaluating and adopting new AI models and frameworks early.

Collaboration & steering

You work closely with our developers every day: in sprint plannings, refinements and reviews; you are there and contribute substantively.
You answer the team's questions quickly and reliably, sign off results and make sure they meet the defined acceptance criteria.
You understand technical context well enough to make sensible trade offs between effort and value.
You plan demos for customers and stakeholders and run them yourself, directly in the product.

Your profile

You have a completed computer science degree or training as a Fachinformatiker (application development), or your GitHub convincingly proves the opposite.
You have several years of professional experience in software development and have built and owned complex systems end to end.
You are proficient in Java and know your way around backend architectures, APIs and database design.
You are experienced in modern cloud architectures, microservices and distributed systems.
Excellent security and resilience are second nature to you, not an afterthought.
AI is part of your everyday work: you use LLMs actively, understand agent concepts and prompting strategies, and have already integrated AI functionality into products.
You think in solutions, not problems: you critically analyze requirements, question them where it matters and bring your own ideas.
You work independently and in a structured way, and you know when to decide something yourself and when to involve the team.
Very good German skills are required; English is a given in a technical context.
You know agile frameworks and have worked in agile teams before.
We would like someone who is mainly on site with us: at least 3 of 5 days in our office in Pfaffenhofen. Remote days are of course possible and part of how we work.
